All items on this site are pre-owned. The grading of vinyl albums is not an exact science and there are many different options and methods.
In order to avoid any disappointment or confusion, please take careful note of the way we grade the music on this site before making any purchases.
Our albums will always be as good as – or better than – the grade indicated.
Notes:-
Kindly ignore price stickers on albums. These are original stickers and are left in place for authenticity. Any other stickers are also left in place.
Albums have original inner sleeves wherever possible, or replaced with brand new inner sleeves if required.
All albums have been cleaned professionally, and covers wiped down.
All albums have new, protective outer sleeves.

RetroRecords & Books – Vinyl Grading System
(Subject to Change)
Near Mint (NM)
A nearly perfect record, with glossy vinyl.
Clearly only been played a few times, showing no obvious signs of wear.
LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other defects.
No cut-out holes or other promo marks.
Sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects and signs of handling.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Well looked after.
Record surfaces may show signs of wear, have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect the listening experience.
Possible slight warps that do not affect the sound.
Light background crackle is acceptable.
Label may have slight ring wear or discolouration.
Centre hole not misshapen.
Cover may show slight signs of wear.
Cut-out hole, indentation or cut corner indicating a promo copy or similar is possible.
Picture/Inner sleeves may have slight wear, lightly damaged corners, or slight seam split.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++)
Great quality, just short of NM
Very Good (VG)
Audible light pops, clicks and scratches, may be heard, but no major defects.
Surface noise may be evident in soft passages and during the intro and fade, but will not overpower the music.
Labels and covers may be scuffed, or marred by writing, tape or stickers (or their residue). Covers may be worn at the edges.
Inner sleeves may be split.
Very Good Minus (VG-)
Not quite as good as VG, but better than G.
Good (G)
Plays through without skipping.
May have significant surface noise and groove wear.
Scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) may affect the sound.
Cover or sleeve may have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine.
Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects may start to overwhelm.
Worth getting to fill a collection but keep an eye out to trade upward.
Poor (P)
Attempting to listen could be unpleasant, with major noise issues, skipping, jumping or repeating.
Album may be cracked, badly warped and have deep scratches.
The cover may be beyond help.
Picture sleeve may be water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing.
Double album might be missing one album.
Only of use as a collection-filler.
As admirers of all things old, like good manners, vinyl LPs and the like, we freely admit to not being fans of CDs. Never have been and never will be, but we are certainly willing to help music lovers move their no-longer-required items, provided the prices are great and the quality beyond reproach…
All pics show the actual CD for sale.
All CDs are pre-owned and play through with no skipping. (All were listened to and checked)
Some jewel cases are chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged. Unfortunately, we have been unable to source replacement cases at any price.
Ordering instructions are the same as for the LPs. (See above)
